Center Valley, PA—The Olympus VG-120 point-and-shoot camera is the first in a new line of pocket-friendly, creativity-enabling and budget-conscious cameras aimed at photographers of all ages and experience levels.
Its main features include 14 megapixels of resolution, a 5x wide-angle optical zoom lens, 720p HD video capture at 30 frames per sec, a 3.0-inch LCD, digital image stabilization to fight blurring, AF tracking and shot-enhancing magic art filters.
With the VG-120, users can forget post-edits; just zoom in and crop right in the camera to frame a shot. And its 26mm wide-angle lens and 5x zoom will them get close to the action.
For added creativity, its in-camera magic filters enable users to customize images as they’re being captured. The magic filters include: pop art, to saturate colors to create pictures with the feel of the 1960’s Pop Art style; pin hole, which reduces the peripheral brightness of an image as though it were shot through a pin hole; fisheye, which emulates the wide-angle of a fisheye lens by taking extremely wide, hemispherical images and magnifying the center of the frame; soft focus, which encloses the foreground of an image in pastel colors with a soft focus; drawing, which turns images into sketch outlines children can color; watercolor, which applies a finish like that of watercolor paintings; sparkle, which adds twinkling lights to photos; and punk, which creates two-tone images in the spirit of rock and roll.
Other features include face detection (the camera detects up to 16 faces within the frame and automatically focuses and optimizes exposure) and intelligent auto mode, where the camera automatically identifies what’s being shot (portrait, night + portrait, landscape, macro and sports) and adjusts settings accordingly. Olympus added its perfect fix feature, designed to offer quick solutions for unanticipated image quality issues, which may be caused by several adverse conditions. Lighting fix can be used to adjust any underexposed areas and red-eye fix reduces the effects of red-eye sometimes caused by a direct flash.
The Olympus VG-120 is available in three colors—silver, black and red—for $139.99. olympusamerica.com
