August 15, 2011, Commack, NY — Tamron, celebrating its 60th anniversary, announced that the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has awarded its European Zoom Lens of the Year 2011-2012 to the Tamron 60th Anniversary Model 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD (Model B008). This lens, which is the world’s most compact and lightest ultra-high-power 15x zoom lens, represents the sixth consecutive year that EISA has recognized Tamron, a leading manufacturer of optical equipment.
Excerpt from the Award Citation of the EISA Jury “This compact zoom lens is an excellent tool for travel photographers, who can now carry a single all-in-one zoom lens instead of the multiple lenses that would normally be needed to cover this range of focal lengths. Designed for the popular APS-C sensor format, it delivers a focal range that is suitable for anything from landscapes to wildlife photography. The lens is small and light, and the main zoom ring is comfortable and easy to operate. The maximum aperture at the wide-angle end is well suited for working in low-light conditions or when a shallow depth of field is required, and Tamron’s new piezoelectric motor achieves near-silent autofocus.” EISA Awards This marks the 6th consecutive year a Tamron lens has won the EISA Award. EISA presents awards each year to products judged to be the best in photographic, audiovisual, and video product categories. A panel of editors from over 50 leading imaging, sound, and electronic industry magazines in 20 European countries review and vote to determine the leading products on the market.
