Lake Success, NY—Canon exhibited a range of products for high-resolution image display, HD video content creation and broadcast HDTV production at the 2010 NAB Show, including its new XF305 and XF300 professional tapeless HD camcorders, the EOS 5D Mark II DSLR, the REALiS SX7 Mark II multimedia LCOS projector and a large-format imagePrograf printer.

The new pro camcorders employ a Canon image-stabilized 18x, 29.3–527.4mm equivalent HD L lens, a rotating 4.0-inch high-res LCD, an electronic viewfinder and the MPEG-2 4:2:2 50Mbps codec for capturing and recording native 1,920×1,080 video onto CompactFlash cards. Uniting video, audio and metadata into a single file, both use an MXF (Material eXchange Format) File Wrapper to maximize compatibility with existing industry infrastructure.

The camcorders have hot-swappable dual card slots and support UDMA CF cards. They also employ Canon’s Digic DV III image processor, which powers Canon’s Face Detection technology. To maximize their adaptability across production environments, Canon equipped each model with multiple bit rates, resolutions and variable frame rates for slow and fast motion, as well as a built-in stereo microphone and dual XLR inputs for external audio sources.
