Michael J. Fox’s upcoming comeback sitcom has another cast member, and he’s a familiar face. Wendell Pierce, a fixture of Spike Lee’s movies who is best known to HBO watchers as Bunk Moreland on The Wire and Antoine Batiste on Treme, will star on Fox’s new show as the Fox character’s boss, according to Deadline.
The series, which was picked up recently by NBC for a full season before a pilot was even shot, stars Fox as a husband and father who, like the actor, has Parkinson’s Disease. Fox’s character is a news anchor on the show, which was co-created by “Easy A” director Will Gluck and does not yet have a title.
Fox famously left ABC’s Spin City not long after his Parkinson’s diagnosis, but has more recently made well-received guest appearances on The Good Wife, Rescue Me, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Pierce was free to join the cast with Treme going off the air after next season.
