Here’s the first trailer for Michael Bay’s “Pain and Gain,” which stars Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson as two gym rats who resort to crime. Let’s take a look at this action-comedy, which opens April 26.

I had no idea this was directed by Bay until his name appeared at the very end. That’s terrific, because watching Bay’s films–I saw a few before I gave up–are like staring at a pinball machine for two hours. I may actually have to make my way to the multiplex this time around. And that’s not because Johnson and Anthony Mackie are two men my wife will eventually leave me for.

Now for actual news: Yahoo! Movies, which debuted the trailer, says that Johnson, Wahlberg (who bulked up big-time), and Bay reportedly took “massive pay cuts” to make “Pain and Gain” happen. The film’s estimated budget is $22 million, which was probably the cost of catering for the original “Transformers.”

Bay and Wahlberg clearly got along during “Pain and Gain.” They’re reuniting for “Transformers 4.”

“Pain and Gain” also stars Rebel Wilson, Ed Harris, and Tony Shalhoub.
