The 2003 Jewish action novelty hit “The Hebrew Hammer” is getting a sequel, in which the Hammer takes on no less than Adolf Hitler.
“The Hebrew Hammer,” which fused a lot of the tropes of the blaxploitation genre with lots and lots of Judaism, starred Adam Goldberg as the titular Hammer. The new film’s title says it all: “The Hebrew Hammer vs. Hitler.”
According to Yahoo Movies, the premise of the new film involves the Hammer and female lead Esther (Judy Greer) “traveling back in time, teaming up with Jesus, and fighting Hitler.” Sounds vaguely like “Inglorius Basterds,” though probably much funnier.
The film will begin production this spring.
