There’s a lot of buzz about new Syfy offering Continuum. It’s a Canadian-born show about terrorists from the year 2077 and the cop who journeys back in time to stop them. Kiera Cameron is stuck in our time and trying to preserve her own. Aiding her is young genius Alec Sadler, who will create most of the technology Cameron’s world is based on.
It’s drawing comparisons to the beloved but short-lived Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Syfy is giving it prime Monday real estate alongside Being Human and Lost Girl. Rachel Nichols, who we’ve seen in J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot and the latest Conan the Barbarian, plays Cameron. Familiar faces include Lexa Doig, whose lengthy genre resume includes appearances on Andromeda, Stargate SG-1 and Smallville.
The terrorists in question are battling against a corporate-controlled future where personal freedoms barely exist. It’s timely material, and Continuum questions whether the future the terrorists are trying to prevent is worth saving. It debuts tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. Syfy is really putting a good Monday night lineup together. Don’t worry if you watch Syfy primarily for the cheesy movies starring D-list actors. They’re a guilty pleasure the network is famous for, and they’re not going anywhere. Coming this Saturday at 9 p.m. Eastern is Tasmanian Devils, pitting former The Wonder Years star Danica McKellar against a horde of the famous creatures. I hear hitting them with anvils works.
