The planned biopic with Al Pacino playing legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is going forward- and will reunite Pacino with his “Scarface” and “Carlito’s Way” director, Brian De Palma.

Deadline reported Wednesday night that the film, which will be called “Happy Valley,” is going forward under producer Edward R. Pressman. Dave McKenna is writing the screenplay, based on Joe Posnanski’s controversial bestseller “Paterno.”

It’s unclear how much of the book, and for that matter Paterno’s life, the movie will cover, but chances are the high-profile scandal that ended the coach’s career shortly before his 2012 death will be a part of it.

As for Pacino, he played a football coach in Oliver Stone’s 1999 “Any Given Sunday,” and has played historical figures from Roy Cohn (in “Angels in America”) to Dr. Jack Kevorkian (“You Don’t Know Jack.”)
