Cartoon Network is ready to add a little sugar, spice and Chemical X to its 2013 fall offerings. The Powerpuff Girls are coming back for a CG special. These elementary school aged superheroes busted bad guys from 1998-2005 and still appear from time to time in reruns. The new special will feature a song, “I Wish I Was a Powerpuff Girl,” by rock legend Ringo Starr. He also plays Townsville’s most famous mathematician, Fibonacci Sequins.

The original voice cast will reprise their roles. Dave Smith will direct, and Kevin Dart will handle art direction.

If the special is a smash, Cartoon Network might be inclined to pick up a series starring the girls. It’s already reviving another popular superhero show with Teen Titans Go! That’s a humorous update of the hit Teen Titans show that ran from 2003-06 on Cartoon Network.

Other returning shows are:

Adventure Time
Regular Show
Annoying Orange
MAD
The Amazing World of Gumball
The Looney Tunes Show
Ben 10 Omniverse
Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc.
Johnny Test
Pokémon Black & White: Adventures in Unova
Beyblade Metal Fury
Almost Naked Animals
Scaredy Squirrel

New animated shows include Beware the Batman, Steven Universe and LEGO-based adventure Legends of Chima. Steven Universe tells the tale of Steven, a young boy chosen as a member of the magical Guardians of the Universe. It is created by Rebecca Sugar, storyboard artist and writer on Cartoon Network’s wildly popular Adventure Time. She’s Cartoon Network’s first solo female show creator.
