Here’s your box office report for this past weekend, complete with snarky commentary.
.) “A Good Day to Die Hard,” $25M. When you examine the last four movies in the franchise, doesn’t the brilliant original seem like a low-budget character study? “Die Hard” and PED-free baseball, by the way, are about the only things I miss from the 1980′s.
.) “Safe Haven,” $21.4M. Well, anytime your movie’s fate depends on Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel…
.) “Escape from Planet Earth,” $16.1M. Brendan Fraser is getting work, which I endorse. I thought he was really good in the “Bedazzled” remake that no one saw. This scene resembles just about every NBA post-game interview.
.) “Warm Bodies,” $9M. You should have seen this on Valentine’s Day, people. C’mon, now!
