Sexual perversity in “About Last Night”

In 1986, Hollywood turned David Mamet’s “Sexual Perversity in Chicago” into a kinda sexy, pretty limp romantic comedy called “About Last Night,” which aside from the opening scene bore no resemblance to the original source material.

Next Valentine’s Day, we’ll be treated to a remake of “About Last Night” set in Los Angeles starring Kevin Hart and Michael Ealy that is directed by Steve Pink (“Hot Tub Time Machine”).

Time will tell what direction this movie takes. Will it be more watered down than Mamet’s original version? Is it going to be more of the frazzled “men and women and sex is a potent mix” issues that we’ve been treated to forever? Oh these questions are killing me! Damn you, preview Gods!

In the meantime, here’s a red band trailer that is not particularly R-rated, though it does feature a shirtless Ealy and Joy Bryant sexily lounging on a couch. Pretty hot stuff…for 1966.
