One of the biggest events on the political media calendar has landed a late night star, with the news that Conan O’Brien will host this year’s White House Correspondents Dinner in April.
Fox News reporter Ed Henry, president of the Association, broke the news on Twitter.
The annual event, known to Washington types as the “Nerd Prom,” typically features snarky political speeches from both a famous comedian and the president himself. Jimmy Kimmel was the host last year, while Seth Myers emceed the memorable 2011 event, which was followed 24 hours later by the death of Osama Bin Laden. O’Brien previously hosted the event in 1995, during the Clinton Administration.
It’s unclear if Conan’s longtime running buddy, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, will play any part in the festivities.
