VH1 is famous for going Behind The Music and showing the underbelly of the music industry. It was a matter of time before they started doing full-fledged biopics. The network plans a series of them, and first up is the drama-filled tale of  girl group TLC. Their story had all the elements to make a movie. There was a meteoric rise, a bankruptcy and breakup, then the tragic death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

“Akeelah and the Bee” star Keke Palmer will be Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas while Drew Sidora (That’s So Raven) will be Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins. Perhaps the best role, the always attention-grabbing “Left Eye,” went to rapper Lil Mama. She’s best known for her song “Lip Gloss” and her judge’s role on America’s Best Dance Crew.

The two surviving members of the group plan to release an album of new material as the movie’s soundtrack. “Crazy, Sexy, Cool” will begin filming in Atlanta in March.
