Alicia Silverstone was never considered amongst the most talented actresses in her generation, but the mid ‘90s were sufficiently kind to her to warrant a lengthy, comfortable career in the spotlight. And yet something along the way went terribly wrong, forcing the once upon a time star of “Clueless” and “Blast from the Past” to find refuge in TV.
But is that so bad? Not at all, especially when you can land a guest star spot on Suburgatory and the lead in an upcoming Lifetime drama. The latter is called HR and it actually sounds pretty good… for a series developed by a cable specialty channel geared towards women.
Silverstone will play an “uptight Director of Human Resources for a global company who, after a head injury alters her outlook on life, throws standard corporate practices out the window and inspires the business to strive for new ambitions and profits.”
Oh, okay, that doesn’t sound like the most original premise ever, but the thing is executive produced by Aaron Kaplan (Terra Nova), so how bad could it be? Then again, it is written by Glenn Porter, the auteur of the pretty terrible “I Melt with You” screenplay, so let’s wait and see, shall we?
