Musician/DJ/t-shirt aficionado Questlove is everywhere, so he might as well be in bookstores.“Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove,” co-written by “New Yorker” editor Ben Greenman, will be released on June 18th.
So, what’s the book about? Billboard has more:
The book is billed as a memoir, although it’ll cover plenty of Quest’s observations and memories of pop culture along with his own story. He’ll talk about his West Philly upbringing, his career with the Roots, his run-ins with other notables (Stevie Wonder, Dave Chappelle, Prince, etc.), and also comment on the current state of hip-hop and music journalism.
According to a press release, Quest’s first book will “question the nature of memory and the idea of a post modern Black man saddled with some post-modern Blues.”
I don’t know where Questlove has the time to write a thank-you note, never mind a book. When he’s not helping the Roots provide the soundtrack for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, he practically lives on Twitter. Or he’s deejaying.
But, wait, there’s more! The Roots’ splendidly afroed drummer will assist on D’Angelo’s new album. He’s teaching a classic albums course at NYU! He’s recording a new album with the Roots! And, he’s doing a joint album with Elvis Costello, of all people!
In fact, there’s a good chance Questlove will have my job in another week. The cat can mutlitask.
Just typing all that made me exhausted. I’m going to take a nap.
