Quick, name three animated movies from the past couple of years that you enjoyed and you’d willingly watch a second time. You’ve got nothing, do you? Except maybe ”Wreck-It Ralph”. And to think in 2010 alone we had at least three good ones – “Toy Story 3″, “How to Train your Dragon” and “Despicable Me”.
If you’re hit by nostalgia over the good old times of the animation industry, you can watch one of those again… or wait for “Despicable Me 2″, the sequel scheduled for a premiere this July. The film has yet another trailer (the third, fourth one?), although there’s still a big mystery surrounding it.
We know Al Pacino will be voicing a character, but we’re yet to find out what kind of a character. We can of course guess it’ll be a villain, considering everybody had a dark side in “Despicable Me”, but will it be a friend or foe of Gru’s (Steve Carell)?
Anyways, besides Pacino and Carell, the voice cast of “Despicable Me 2″ includes a few other big names, like Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove and Russell Brand, so there’s a lot to be excited about.
The original movie’s co-directors (Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud) and co-writers (Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul) are all back for the sequel, so all’s set to forget about last year’s sub-par “Brave”, “Paranorman” and “Hotel Transylvania”. Now if only the trailer would be funnier…
