Dexter-Season-8With the question of Dexter’s end settled once and for all, it’s time to start wiping out those tears and look towards what could be a grand finale or… not so much. It’s obvious the show has to wrap up with the likable lead character dead, but will Showtime have the guts to call it a day in such a bleak way?

And if so, will Debra survive her brother? Will anyone in the series get some sort of happy ending? Does anyone deserve to?

Obviously, we don’t have answers to any of those questions yet, but what we do have is the first trailer for the show’s upcoming season 8. Unfortunately, this is only 30-second long and, while it shows plenty of new footage, it’s hard to get a clear idea of what’s to come.

We see Deb and Dex fighting again, quick glimpses of some fighting scenes, drops of blood on different objects and Charlotte Rampling smiling cheekily to someone. Oddly, there’s no sign of Yvonne Strahovski, the only season 7 guest star that’s on board for the show’s finale, or of Sean Patrick Flanery, the other new, recognizable name besides Rampling signed by Showtime.

Still, the clip embedded below is likely enough to pique the interest of old, faithful fans of the crime/drama cable TV show and keep the suspense going. Isn’t it?
