Silence, the book Martin Scorsese’s next film will be “Silence,” an adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s 1966 novel about Jesuits in 17th century Japan, Deadline reported late last week.

The film, long considered Scorsese’s dream project, will begin production in the summer of 2014, most likely in Taiwan, although the director has been planning to make the film since at least the early 1990s. Scorsese is expected to officially announce his plans for the picture at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

Scorsese is currently filming “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which is scheduled to come out this December.
