The RockDwayne “The Rock” Johnson may have delivered his last in-ring Smackdown. The movie star and former wrestling champ said in a Twitter Q & A that Wrestlemania 29 might have been his last match.
Mania may have been my last match. The 3 year goal was to come in & elevate the WWE. Then proudly ‘do the honors.’ #RockTalk,”  he tweeted. That echoes comments he made in a radio interview with Peter Rosenberg.

Johnson suffered torn abdomen and abductor muscles in that high profile match against John Cena. WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley told BANG Showbiz he had the same injury and it’s one of the most painful there is. That’s coming from a man who is missing half an ear and once fell off a cage so hard a tooth came out of his nostril.

The surgery caused The Rock to miss the premiere of his latest movie, “Pain & Gain.” Director Michael Bay commented it was time for the action star to “grow up and stop wrestling 300 lb. men.” After a backlash from wrestling fans, Bay said it was only a joke. Johnson tried to defuse the situation by promising to only wrestle women from now on.

We may never know if Bay was serious, but now’s a good time for The Rock to bow out. Wrestlers often hang around for too long because they don’t have other career options. Dwayne Johnson is the first wrestler to successfully make the transition to box office superstardom. There’s really nothing left for him to accomplish in WWE.
