AMC fans who sweated out Mad Men‘s nearly 18-month hiatus won’t have to wait nearly as long for Breaking Bad this year. The series will return July 15, for the first half of its two-part final season, Entertainment Weekly reported Monday.
This summer’s run will include eight episodes, with the last eight of the series to air in 2013.
Where we last left chemistry teacher-turned-meth kingpin Walter White (Bryan Cranston), he had successfully conspired to kill rival Gus Fring, albeit using his most Machiavellian gambit to date. Season Five will have Walter and protege Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) on top of the New Mexico drug trade, albeit without their trademark “Superlab,” which they burned to the ground.
