This year’s Los Angeles Film Festival was always going to be a treat for fans of indie movies, but the thing has now become that much more interesting for those of you into mainstream films and particularly big-budget blockbusters.
Two of the biggest predicted commercial hits of the summer have been added to the LAFF slate, being set to make their world premieres during the festival. The first of these, Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”, will be screened outside of the competition on June 12, the same day when it’s scheduled to enter Filipino theaters.
As for “Monsters University”, the highly anticipated “Monsters, Inc.” sequel, that’s also slated for a world premiere in Los Angeles, on June 18, two days before hitting select European and Asian countries and three days before entering US theatres.
Directed by Dan Scanlon and featuring the voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Steve Buscemi, the animation will be part of the official festival lineup, being ready to take on films like “The Way, Way Back” and “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”.
The Los Angeles Film Festival is to take place between June 13 and 23 and will open with Pedro Almodovar’s latest, “I’m So Excited”, starring Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz. Anyone have a spare all-fest pass?
