According to Collider, filming for “Gotti” begins this September. The film still stars John Travolta — um, OK — and is based on a story by Gotti’s son, John A. Gotti. The original screenplay is by Leo Rossi and has been revised by Lem Dobbs.
This movie hasn’t been a paragon of stability. Collider has the brutal details: Reportedly, production was stalled in October 2011 due to a lack of funding. Nick Cassavetes was originally slated to direct. He dropped out. Then Barry Levinson took over before the money ran dry. Joe Pesci was cast in the film, apparently gained a ton of weight, then sued the producers for cutting his part.
Actually, I’d like to see a documentary about the making of “Gotti” rather than the movie. Ever since seeing this, I can’t take John Travolta seriously in anything.
