Judging only by recent ratings numbers, you’d think NBC’s The Voice is doing better with Shakira and Usher in Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo’s coaching chairs. But America likes its divas better when they’re born and bred in the good ol’ US of A instead of borrowed from exotic Columbia.
Which is likely why the peacock is reportedly in advanced negotiations with original Voice judge X-Tina for a fifth season return. The 32-year-old pop singer doesn’t come cheap though, with some sources claiming she could be paid a whopping $17 million for one single season.
According to others though, Christina could make do with “just” $12.5 mil, so chances are an official announcement concerning her comeback will be made soon. Poor Shaki!
Meanwhile, Cee-Lo Green is said to be in talks for a return too, following the same one-year hiatus taken by Aguilera to focus on her singing career. Naturally, if the former Gnarls Barkley lead singer will be in, the likelihood is Usher will be out, which, to be frank, doesn’t sound like NBC’s best idea ever.
As for Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s spots in the coaching line-up, they do appear to be safe, mostly because everybody loves Adam and Blake… has nowhere else to go. Nah, I’m just kidding, Blake is uber-cool and it would be a terrible shame if he were to exit the show. Even if he’s not the brightest star there.
