Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell made history at this year’s Golden Globes, with probably the funniest skit in the award ceremony’s history, but also by causing the now legendary “not impressed” Tommy Lee Jones facial expression.
And after joining forces several times on Saturday Night Live, it was only a matter of time until the two comedy gods were to team up on the big screen. According to newly emerged reports, their highly anticipated partnership will happen sooner rather than later, with Wiig on board to star in a comedy-drama called “Welcome to Me” and set to be produced by Ferrell.
Sadly, we don’t know yet if there’s a part for Ferrell in the movie, though come on, what are the odds of the actor not appearing in the thing in a cameo at the least? Oh, well, we should find out soon enough, as filming is to start this summer in California.
“Welcome to Me” will focus on a woman suffering from a personality disorder, who will find herself completely estranged from friends and family after winning the lottery and using the money for a talk show about her life. Erm, no offense, but that really sounds like a tailor-made role for Kristen Wiig.
Besides Ferrell, Wiig is also on board to produce the film, alongside Adam McKay (“Anchorman”) and Jessica Elbaum (“The Other Guys”). How can you not get excited about the movie with that all-star team behind it?
