GirlsIn a move that may strike some as redundant, the good people of Hustler have made a porn version of the much argued about HBO series Girls. As Drew Grant of the New York Observer noticed an item in porn industry trade publication Xbiz.com announced that production of Hustler’s “This Ain’t Girls XXX” wrapped yesterday.

Beginning with the title the Hustler production seems to be in the unusual position of trying to make clear that its pornographic version will have less extreme (or at least less weird) sex scenes than there are in the source material. In comments to Xbiz Richie Calhoun, who will be playing the Adam character in the porn version, (and as Drew Grant notes is also Ryan Gosling’s porn doppelganger!) makes clear that while he’s a casual fan of the HBO series ultimately he finds the show and its characters “hard to take.” (He and I are in complete agreement on this point.)

Therefore while he tried to embrace the weirdness of the Adam character during the sex scenes he was careful not to go too weird and end up with something as off-putting as Girls itself:

“I tried to make it as weird as possible,” Calhoun told XBIZ. “I tried to say really weird things and do really weird positions.

“Well, not that weird,” he quickly added.

So while “This Ain’t Girls XXX” will have “mild BDSM with a sprinkling of strange” it apparently won’t have any sex scene as horrifying as that one from Season Two that people are still arguing about.

Still, Girls did provide fertile ground on which to create a porn parody. “They didn’t have to do much but roll with the original script and extend the intercourse scenes,” Calhoun is also quoted as saying.
