Mads Mikkelson

Ashley Hamilton may be signing on to play an armored villain in “Iron Man 3.”

Variety reports Hamilton, the son of actor George Hamilton, could suit up as Firepower. Like most of Tony Stark’s rogues gallery, Firepower is a baddie in a high-tech supersuit. He’s expected to be more of a secondary villain. Ben Kingsley is playing one of the main villains, although Marvel hasn’t revealed which one yet. The movie starts shooting and is slated for a May 3, 2013 release.

The plot is reportedly pulled from Warren Ellis’ “Extremis” storyline. It involves nanomachines that grant superhuman abilities. To stop a villain that has taken Extremis, Stark has to do so as well.

Not to be outdone, “Thor 2″  has Mads Mikkelson in talks to battle the Norse thunder god. Mikkelson appeared in “Valhalla Rising,” so he’s certainly got experience with Norse mythology. He’ll have plenty of help tormenting the hero also. Tom Hiddleston, who has drawn rave reviews as Loki in “Thor” and “The Avengers,” will return for the “Thor” sequel. It’s expected November 15, 2013.

“The Avengers” is continuing to rake in the cash. Fox is working on a Daredevil reboot and X-Men: First Class sequel too. Sony’s opportunity to take advantage of the superhero surge, “The Amazing Spider-Man,” is coming July 3.
