Okay, that’s the one and only joke I’m ready to crack with regards to “Adore”, an upcoming drama that focuses on a scandalous love square between two mothers and two sons. There’s definitely room for plenty of other puns, but the fact that Naomi Watts and Robin Wright are the leads in this movie makes me want to keep my sobriety on.
Plus, “Adore” is directed by Anne Fontaine (“Coco before Chanel”) and written by Christopher Hampton (“Dangerous Liaisons”, “Atonement”), so it has enough ingredients to be taken seriously.
What it doesn’t have is a very compelling trailer. Also, what’s with the two boy toys cast opposite Watts and Wright? James Frecheville of “The First Time” and Xavier Samuel of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”? Sorry, Anne Fontaine, but you would have probably been better off with Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake.
Anyways, check out the steamy trailer below and if you’re still interested, look for “Adore” in (a couple of) theaters come September 6. I know I will, even if just to see if the producers are bold enough to go all the way with this madness and end it with an outrageous foursome. Wouldn’t that be something? Something sick, I mean.
