What’s phase three all about? Well, it’s supposed to follow “The Avengers 2”, which in turn will open only after “Thor: The Dark World”, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
The first phase three movie will introduce the cinematic world to the legendary but somewhat disregarded Ant-Man and, while the project is still in development, with very few names attached to it, the rumor mill is already grinding at full throttle.
Edgar Wright (“Shaun of the Dead”, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) is reportedly on board to direct, the script will be penned by Wright and Joe Cornish (“The Adventures of Tintin”) and the title character could be played by… Armie Hammer.
That last part is still a little sketchy, as there’s no real confirmation yet Hammer is in negotiations for the role. Or even that the studios want him. The only hints we have are a mysterious spotting of the actor on the “Captain America 2” set and a very confusing interview with Screen Rant.
You can check the full transcript at the source link below, but in a nutshell Hammer doesn’t know who Edgar Wright is, has never heard of Ant-Man before, has no knowledge of an Ant-Man film being made and has visited the “Captain America 2” set to “say hi to a buddy of mine”. Yeah, right, and Batman’s secret identity is Tony Stark.
