Christina Applegate and her breathtaking hiney will appear in the sequel to “Anchorman.” That’s what David Koechner (aka Champ Kind) told Perez Hilton, the Edward R. Murrow of Hollywood bloggers.
This is great news. The acidic rapport between buffoonish Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) and ambitious colleague Veronica Corningstone (Applegate) was amazing the first time around. It was like “Moonlighting” on crack. Let’s hope the comedy’s reported premise–the emergence of the 24-hour news cycle in the late 1970s and ethnic diversity (not the old wooden ship)–prominently involves lots of snappy, albeit bizarre repartee between the two stars.
On a personal note, I’m thrilled for Applegate, a talented comic actress who has redeemed shaky fare like “Surviving Christmas” and “The Sweetest Thing.” The days of spandex and Kelly Bundy seems so, so far away.
Way to stay classy, Christina.
