Paul McCartney will headline the Olympics Opening Ceremony, leading a cast of 15,000 performing in the ceremonies to be held July 27 in London.
Also performing will be fellow British muscicians Coldplay, who will close the Paralympic Games. The ceremony’s artistic director, Academy Award winner Danny Boyle, sought inspiration from Mary Shelley’s story of Frankenstein and will be evoking an Isle of Wonder theme. Up to 4 billion people are expected to watch the opening ceremony.
The 2008 ceremony was held in Bejing, China and cost an estimated $100 million to produce.
