lewis blackPerpetually angry comedian Lewis Black is changing up his distribution model for his ninth stand-up special. Lewis Black: Old Yeller – Live at the Borgata will be broadcast live from Atlantic City at 9:30 p.m EST Aug. 24. It will be available in standard and high def through Xfinity, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Dish, Cablevision, Charter Communications, AT&T U-Verse and Verizon FiOS.

Old Yeller is the first comedy special to use a pay-per-view distribution model usually reserved for live sporting events. If this model works, it will certainly not be the last. In a March interview with Laughspin, Black wasn’t sure his audience was a fit for a direct-to-consumer model. Obviously somebody behind the scenes disagrees.

No sacred cow goes unskewered in Black’s act, whether it is politicians, religion or family values. In addition to his stand-up work, Black has published three books and won a Grammy Award for his album “Stark Raving Black. ”
