Gia Allemand didn’t win the heart of Jake Pavelka on Season 14 of ABC’s reality show The Bachelor back in 2010, but millions of viewers were smitten. ABC went on to bring her back for the first two seasons of spinoff Bachelor Pad. The beautiful, bubbly model was easy to cheer for.
That makes her death, which her family has confirmed to be a suicide, all the more shocking. Her boyfriend, Ryan Anderson of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, found her on Monday in their apartment. Reports indicate Allemand hung herself. The family removed her from life support Wednesday.
Her reality show family is baffled as well. Allemand attended a viewing party for The Bachelorette finale Aug. 5.
“I love these guys,” Allemand said in an interview with E! News. “Any time we’re together, it’s always just so fun. It’s the best time. We just all have this really strong connection.”
Pavelka tweeted that he was devastated to hear the news.
“She was one of the sweetest people I have ever known and a dear friend,” he said. “My heart goes out to her family at this difficult time. We have lost an angel today.”
