Dramatic reality television reaches new heights (and lows) with Lifetime’s My Life is a Lifetime Movie.

The series will follow women whose real lives emanate the stereotypical plots of melodramatic Lifetime movies that often involve the heroine being deceived, threatened, endangered, humiliated, etc.

Lifetime President Nancy Dubek, in the press release, suggests that the new show is intended to “wink and nod” at the network’s favoritism towards story lines featuring women trapped in dangerous and utterly outrageous situations, while also moving forward to jump on the trashy reality show bandwagon. So, to clarify, the audience is to be amused at the fact that the traumatic situations actually happened instead of imagined?
