Kevin Hart is one of the hottest names in Hollywood right now. His reality show mocking sitcom Real Husbands of Hollywood is a smash for BET, and targets a genre ripe for lampooning. Let Me Explain, based on his stand-up, made more than $32 million.
ABC wants into the lucrative Kevin Hart business, and has a multicamera sitcom in the works. It reportedly won’t feature him in a starring role, but will be based on his comedy. It features a couple trying to remain civil after a divorce, something Hart is going through and has joked about.
Former Community executive producers and Scrubs writers Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan are signed on as writers. Hart’s comedy has been straight money lately. But will those same viewers show up for a sitcom that stars his material, but not him? ABC will find out if this gets past the pilot stage.
