Do wrestling fans have enough room in their schedule for another hour of WWE? Ion Television is banking on it starting October 3 with WWE Main Event. Every Wednesday at 8 PM superstars from Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown will square off.
The E’s last Wednesday night show, WWE Superstars aired on WGN. The network decided not to renew it in 2011. That’s not surprising. Big name wrestlers rarely appeared, thus it was easy to miss the show and still keep up with storylines. Superstars then began running on WWE.com, but it even got cancelled from the Internet.
There are reports coming out now that company brass realize the mistakes made with Superstars. Main eventers such as John Cena may actually stop by to keep things fresh.
There’s also the matter of WWE launching its own network. Is this all going to be too much wrestling, even for the most dedicated of fans?
