Veronica Roth’s novel Divergent features a society in which teens are divided into different groups based on their personality traits. Shailene Woodley plays the heroine Tris, who doesn’t fit into any particular category. This is not a desirable trait. In fact, it’s a “conceal it or they’re going to kill you” trait.
Theo James is Four, the leader of Tris’ faction. It will probably not shock you that these two will eventually fall in love and somehow save this fractured world. It also stars Ashley Judd, Kate Winslet and Tony Goldwyn. Here’s a new clip:
The leads are pretty, the society is dystopian and the world is in danger. It’s no secret who the target audience is here. Will “Divergent” capture the imagination of young adults the way the books in the series have? We’ll find out March 21, 2014.
