If DreamWorks Animation gets its way, New Jersey will house one more amusement park on the already congestion-jammed family fun center that is the I-95 corridor.

The company will bring “its movie characters and storytelling” to a proposed indoor theme park in northern New Jersey, specifically the oh-so glamorous New Jersey Meadowlands. Deadline Hollywood reports that this kid-friendly destination will feature:

Rides, attractions and a glass-enclosed wave pool incorporating characters from the studio’s films…It would be the first wholly themed DreamWorks park. DreamWorld, in Australia, features some DreamWorks characters but not exclusively.

Sounds like fun. I mean, who doesn’t love wave pools?

The key phrase here is “indoor theme park,” which puts the project–located near MetLife Stadium–in a tenuous position. The New York Jets and Giants, the football teams that call the stadium home, have sued to block construction. They’re concerned that it will add to congestion on game days. (And I’m sure bands and concert promoters love this idea.)

In other words, don’t expect to be hanging out with Puss in Boots anytime soon.
