Donald J. Sobol, the author of the popular childrens’ book series Encyclopedia Brown, has died at the age of 87, according to multiple media reports.
The series, featuring the young genius detective who solved neighborhood mysteries, usually by finding one logical hole in the bad guy’s story, began in 1963. It consisted of 28 novels and numerous other collections of shorter stories.
The series was later adapted into both a comic strip and an HBO series.
