It wasn’t too long ago that Ashley Judd was mulling a political career, weighing a run for the U.S. Senate seat in Kentucky. Now, NBC has cast her in the network’s upcoming pilot, Salvation. According to “Variety,” Judd will play the matriarch in “a family that rallies together after the death of their father, the leader of a Texas megachurch.”
I wonder if he died after getting bitten while handling a snake. If so, double points for topicality, NBC!
Judd actually has a pretty full acting schedule. She’s co-starring with Shailene Woodley in the upcoming “Divergent” and will star in “Dolphin Tale 2″ and “Big Stone Gap.”
Much like Jennifer Lopez, whom will star in another NBC drama series in 2015, Judd is a talented actress in need of a showcase after a decade of iffy movie decisions. “Salvation” could provide that forum–at least until the 2016 U.S. Senate race.
