DC’s Before Watchmen panel had a surprising guest in director Quentin Tarantino. He explained the publisher is working bringing his upcoming movie, “Django Unchained” to comic book stores as a five-issue limited series. The book will start in November, and DC hasn’t yet announced details about the creative team. Tarantino said there’s always a lot of story that doesn’t make it movies. He still wants to share that narrative, however, and comics offer a perfect platform to do so.
“Django Unchained” is a Western starring Jamie Foxx as a slave who becomes a bounty hunter. The star-studded cast also includes Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio. Waltz is Dr. King Schultz, a German bounty hunter who teaches Django the tricks of the trade. DiCaprio is Calvin Candie, a sadistic villain who forces slaves to fight to the death.
Through all the chaos, Django’s true goal is to find Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade. “Django Unchained” releases Dec. 25.
