Even though Bauer may never be able to go home again, he’s trying to stop an assassination attempt on the US President, one more time. Fox’s long running drama 24 went off the air in 2010, but neither the network or star Kiefer Sutherland have been able to follow up its success, with the series Touch only lasting two low-rated seasons before it was cancelled last year.
Things will be more intense than normal, as 24: Live Another Day is a 12 episode limited series, which was greenlit in lieu of a follow-up movie. Fewer episodes, in theory, bring more fast-paced action and hopefully higher ratings. It’s the model often used by cable TV shows such as The Walking Dead. The old adage in show biz is to always leave them wanting more, and shorter runs help to do that. Here’s the latest trailer:
24: Live Another Day arrives May 5 and will also welcome back Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Chloe character. The series also stars Yvonne Strahovski, Tate Donovan, Benjamin Bratt and William Devane as the President.
