“Robopocalypse,” Steven Spielberg’s next movie after the upcoming “Lincoln” and his long-awaited return to sci-fi, has found a possible leading man.

According to a Deadline report Thursday, “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth is Spielberg’s choice to play the leading role in the film, which already has a release date scheduled for April of 2014.

The casting is not yet final, according to the report.

The film, a rare three-studio production that’s backed by Disney, Fox and DreamWorks, is based on Daniel H. Wilson’s 2011 novel, about a future in which society is reliant on robots and sentient artificial intelligence emerges.
