With his adaptation of Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” Peter Jackson has planned from the beginning to split the one novel into two separate movies, the first of which is scheduled to open this December. Now comes word that Jackson may have even more stretching to do.
According to The Wrap, Jackson and the Warner Bros. studio are negotiating about making it “The Hobbit” a trilogy. The first movie, dubbed “A Magical Journey,” has already completed filming, and adding a third film would likely require extra shooting.
The third Hobbit film is not yet a done deal; contracts must be reworked with the actors and crew.
