Gotham-logo1-300x168Fox has high hopes for Batman-prequel series Gotham. It’s found what may be the perfect companion in Sleepy Hollow, a surprise hit from last season. Gotham will be Sleepy Hollow’s lead-in this fall, airing at 9 p.m. ET on Mondays.

Bruno Heller, probably best known for his work on The Mentalist, will serve as executive producer. Former Southland and The O.C. star Ben McKenzie will play Detective Jim Gordon, with David Mazouz portraying a young Bruce Wayne. Jada Pinkett Smith is returning to television for the first time in years as criminal kingpin Fish Mooney.

Sleepy Hollow reimagines Washington Irving’s classic with Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane, much more handsome and heroic than he is typically portrayed. He and the Headless Horseman awaken in modern times due to a magic spell and continue their rivalry. It turns out he’s one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, part of a conspiracy Fox is hoping it takes at least 7-8 years to unravel.

On the surface, these two dramas seem like a perfect pair. Of course, Almost Human fans are still surrounding Fox offices with pitchforks. The network’s reputation as the destroyer of sci-fi and fantasy shows isn’t going away anytime soon.
