Alex Gibney is probably America’s most prolific documentarian. Since his Oscar-winning “Taxi to the Dark Side” in 2007, Gibney has directed films about Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Abramoff, Eliot Spitzer, Ken Kesey, and Steve Bartman.

Next, Gibney plans to tackle the Catholic Church abuse scandal, with a new documentary called “Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God.” Here’s the trailer:

The HBO-produced documentary will show at the Toronto International Film Festival next month.
