Just one day after the passing of Casey Kasem, the longtime voice of Shaggy, comes word that we’re going to soon see another movie reincarnation of Shaggy, his pal Scooby and the rest of the Mystery Machine gang.
According to a Deadline report Tuesday, Warner Bros. is eying a reboot of the Scooby-Doo movie franchise, just a decade after the last cycle. The Sarah Michelle Gellar/Freddie Prinze Jr. incarnation consisted of movies in 2002 and 2004, and now the studio is ready to try again. The revived Scooby movie, which remains “in the early stages,” is being written by Randall Green.
The Scooby-Doo franchise dates back to the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You animated series that started in 1969, and has continued with various cartoons series and TV movies pretty much nonstop ever since. Some of the projects have verged on the weird, with the pro wrestling crossover Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery, from earlier this year, probably the weirdest one of all.
