Netflix is jumping into the sci-fi arena with the 10-episode drama Sense 8, from the Wachowskis and J. Michael Stracynzski. Lost’s Naveen Andrews and Daryl Hannah are now a part of the proceedings. Andrews is no doubt prepping for another few years of scripts that hold back precious details about his character and interviews probing for things he really doesn’t know. Hannah is no stranger to sci-fi and fantasy either, having played everything from a mermaid to a 50-foot woman in her career.
The show describes events unfolding after a death links eight strangers mentally and emotionally. They can see and speak to each other and have access to each other’s darkest secrets. It will be up to this group to figure out what has happened while evading a secret organization out to capture and possibly kill them.
Also in the cast are Doctor Who favorite Freema Agyeman, Terrance Mann and Stargate Universe’s Brian J. Smith. Agyeman’s been working steadily since her stint as Martha Jones. She’s appeared in Law & Order UK and CW’s Sex and the City prequel, The Carrie Diaries.
Thanks to the international nature of this show, it will film in nine different locations on four continents.
