Martin Scorsese announced Wednesday that he will next direct “The Wolf of Wall Street,” an adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir. Leonardo DiCaprio will star in the film, which will come out in 2013.
Terence Winter, the former Sopranos writer who co-created Boardwalk Empire, will adapt the screenplay. As described in the official announcement, the film “chronicles Belfort’s dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life, which included drug and alcohol addiction.”
“The Wolf of Wall Street” is DiCaprio and Scorsese’s fifth collaboration, following “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” “The Departed” and “Shutter Island.”
