The idea of Glee star/pop singer Lea Michele guest-starring on Sons of Anarchy‘s final season may soon counterintuitive, because it’s hard to imagine Michele and and SAMCRO existing in the same universe.
But it’s happening. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michele will star on one episode as “Gertie, an empathetic truck-stop waitress and single mother who connects with Gemma (Katey Sagal) during a difficult time.”
It may be hard to imagine Michele as someone named Gertie, as a truck stop waitress, as a single mom, or as empathetic, but I guess that’s why it’s called acting.
And really, ‘Sons’ has always featured an eclectic mix of guest stars. Over the years, the series has been visiting by everyone from Tom Arnold to Henry Rollins to Walton Goggins to Mitch Pileggi to Danny Trejo to Tom Everett Scott to Jay Karnes to Dave Navarro to Donal Logue to Adam Arkin to Hal Holbrook to Joel McHale, not to mention virtually every supporting actor who’s ever appeared on Deadwood, The Shield or Justified. And while you may have noticed that previous list was entirely male, ‘Sons’ also once featured a guest-star turn from Q’Orianka Kilcher, in her one post-“The New World role of note.
Also appearing on ‘Sons’ next season? Two ’90s musicians both mentioned in the same verse of the New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give”- Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson- as well as Theo Huxtable himself, Malcolm Jamal-Warner.
The episode will air in October, ahead of Glee’s last season in 2015. At any rate, considering their respective reputations, the odds of Michele and Kurt Sutter clashing on the set are roughly 1000 percent.
