Sporting Mockingjay symbols will be punishable by death, President Snow has declared. That army’s got its work cut out in “Mockingjay, Part I.” Fans at Comic-Con the first look at the new trailer on Friday, and now it is everywhere. The previous trailers showed Donald Sutherland’s President Snow delivering addresses, desperately trying to convince everyone, including himself, that things are moving smoothly in the Capitol. So the latest one goes into the heart of District 13, where folks have realized the Games are just a distraction for the downtrodden.
Katniss may not even realize what she’s started, but she’ll fight for the revolution because it holds her as a symbol. This is also one of our last looks at Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee. He had completely finished his part before his death in February.
This is where a series that started out being about kids forced to kill each other gets still darker. “Mockingjay, Part I” arrives Nov. 21. The second part arrives November 2015. Is there really enough material in the final chapter of The Hunger Games for two movies? Lionsgate is banking on it.
The trailer, released at Comic-Con, was first unveiled to Samsung Galaxy Tab customers.
